Very good tea. A little strong so you don´t need to use as many leaves. |
Shehzad (11/21/2014) |
Quite a nice brew although I don´t think this will become a regular in my tea cupboard |
Neil (6/6/2014) |
First flush tea is usually a surprise, but this tea was not a surprise but had a nice hint of the taste of grass. |
dennis west (5/1/2014) |
This is a good tea and have ordered it previously. It is not always consistent and the amount of infusions per time is not that great, however I will continue to order it. |
dennis west (5/29/2011) |
This Purple Bamboo is consistently good and I make sure to always have some on hand. |
dennis west (5/29/2011) |
Purple Bamboo has always been a favorite of mine and it is difficult to fine any type of consistency when ordering at different times. But this tea is consistently good. |
dennis west (12/19/2010) |
Small fine buds, the dry tea has a grassy smell, but the infusion is sweet and a bit nutty. |
Terje (12/7/2010) |
Good green tea. Not from the highest grade, of course, but still very nice and tasteful. |
Paweł (9/6/2010) |
Nice green tea similar to Long Jinn in flavor fragrance etc. The leaves look quite different, insteads of the long flat leave on LJ these are like little buds that flower in the water. |
Lawrence (8/21/2010) |
This is my second favorite of all green teas. I love everything about it! |
Daniel (6/28/2010) |
A light green that can last two solid infusion. The leaves give off a strong aroma. |
Daniel (6/18/2010) |
Tea leaves are green and beautiful. It is very refreshing, but with strong grassy smell and vegetal taste. |
Fan (5/18/2010) |
the quality of tea leaves looks very high. However tea is getting brown after very short time. also taste is not very pleasant with bitterness. |
Christian (4/28/2010) |
2010 crop is excellent and lasts after repeated brewing. |
dennis west (4/5/2010) |
Bright and glossy hook tea leaf, sweet and aromatic. Sweeter and less vegetal than some other ´qing´ teas. |
Rolf (9/29/2009) |
Nice solid green tea. Vegetal with nice nutty sweet undertones and mild aroma that makes for a very satisfying brew. Not overly sensitive to sloppy brewing, can be infused multiple times, and not too smoky or astringent. Very pretty green buds that resemble a bamboo grove in your gaiwan :-) Although ZHQ probably is not as interesting as other teas such as Xu Fu Long Ya, Gu Zhu Zi Sun, or An Ji Bai Cha, ZHQ does approach the quality of these higher grade teas and is better, for instance, than more generic tasting teas such as Kai Hua Long Ya. For the price, I think ZHQ is a pretty good tea that offers a sweet, well-rounded taste, and durable steeping strength. Excellent product! |

Ok, this tea has more than a "hint" of asparagus. It´s by far the most asparagussy tea I´ve ever tasted. The dry leaves smell like asparagus, and the brew smells and tastes strongly of asparagus. If this appeals to you, you´ll love this tea. I tend to prefer my vegetal teas more on the "grassy" or "sweet and sour" side, so I´ve docked it a star. But I recognize that for what this tea sets out to do, it does it very well. |
Jeff (7/29/2009) |
Extremely clean vegetal aroma and clean sween aftertaste. Like a deep breath of fresh air. |
Étienne (5/24/2009) |
A light green that can last two solid infusion. The leaves give off a strong aroma. |
Daniel (4/9/2009) |
Excellent green tea with a lovely veggi aroma and a very slight colour |
Thomas (4/5/2009) |
excellent green tea, with very fresh and vegetal notes in the arome, wich are more soft and sweet in the taste. very recomendable |
Sergio (4/4/2009) |
A very different kind of green tea. Zesty flavor, and grassy, as people have said. I tend to brew greens light, and this tea held up very well, though I think it could handle a slightly longer steeping time. It held four good infusions for me. |
Catherine (3/26/2009) |
solid fresh green tea. i love to imagine the relatively clean and green area it comes from and it doesn´t disappoint. on one hand a unremarkable good green tea and on the other a subtle masterpiece. after trying it with a few friends, we agreed on a distinct string bean, asparagus veggie flavor, the astringency and flavour or walnut or almond skins, and a pleasant sugar cane or slight bubble gum sweetness is there too. even an oat-like nuttiness is apparent. on top of all that- a wonderful fresh flavour of spring itself. pleasantly tranquilizing, invigorating, feels like a true tonic cleansing you clean through. totally simple to steep, gaiwan or tall drinking glass style. not too sensitive to heat. super good, will make you happy!

This tea makes a delicate and delightful brew there is a sweet after taste and chestnut flavour. |
Robert (2/22/2009) |
it is difficult to describe the flavor of this tea. it is always pleasant and refreshing and has a slightly different taste with each brewing. i recomend it to my students. (i teach a course in tea at adult ed, libraries and senior centers.) |
robert (12/20/2008) |
extraordinary delicious tea very sweet-smelling I drink after lunch and before sleep. |
Marzia (8/26/2008) |
I don´t like so much this tea. A thing that I notice about my predilections is that teas with flat and straight tea leaves, have often disappointed me. I like other kind of teas. |
manuel (6/2/2008) |
Dry tea leaves are beautiful and have a wonderful fresh asparagus smell. The vegetal taste becomes more mineral (something like wet clay) after some infusions, but I found it still pleasant. |
Étienne (5/13/2008) |
This is a green tea of refinement and full flavor. I wish it were less expensive. Other bamboo-style green teas are not as good. |
Gerald (4/14/2008) |
It´s a very slight Green Tea. Color is clear with a pale green pallor. It´s slightly sweet with a note of asparagus and vegetation. Beautiful looking leaves. Do not worry if the brewing comes out quite clear as that seems normal for this tea. |
peter (4/7/2008) |
Good |

Very good. |
FRANCO (12/12/2006) |

GIOVANNI (9/18/2006) |
A bold great green tea that adds a robust dimension to my green tea menu. There is nothing shy about this tea. |
Chip (9/8/2006) |
Nice subtle brew -- certainly meditative! Requires mindfulness to enjoy. Perfect for being with the universe outside. Tea leaves themselves smell sweet and have an interesting look about them. |
Andrew (8/14/2006) |
The dry leaves smell very fresh and mildly sweet. Pour water on the leaves and its sweet almost floral aroma combine with a sweet asparagus dominated flavor. A great tea that does not exhibit any detectable astringency. For dinner and a show, make sure you catch the dancing leaves. |
Chip (6/18/2006) |
A very enjoyable cup of tea and great second infusion! |
Tom (5/27/2006) |
it is truly a marvelous tea and worthy of a 5 star
rating. i ordered a yixing pot just for this tea. the
tea tastes different with every cup and even with
every sip. i will give samples of this to my tea class
at the end of may. |
robert (5/8/2006) |
This tea has a burned taste to it that I did not care for. The leaf is beautiful, but the brew is disappointing. |
Christine (4/29/2006) |
A very fresh tea for the 2006 year. I drink this tea quite often now as I find that it is always "just right." This is not the tea to pick if you are in search of a strong flavor. It is very faint. |
Brian (4/23/2006) |
A classic green tea. Brisk flavor with a not unpleasant aftertaste. |
Beverly (4/21/2006) |
Beautiful leaf. This is the first time I’ve ever had this tea. Very fresh, but wasn’t enthralled with the taste that seemed to lack smoothness that I look for in a tea. |
Ryan (4/10/2006) |
Beautiful one bud tea. Very fresh but as not acquired the test yet for first time trying. Wish can get the same tea leave for Dragon Well. |
Chung (4/6/2006) |
Get it while it is fresh!! I strongly urge you to take advantage of somthing that no one else has yet, 2006 tea. Very lush and fresh tasting as well as sweet and a little hint of smokiness. Very complex. |
